Kates Hired as Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University head men's soccer coach Jim Findlay has announced the hiring of Brandon Kates '13 as the program's newest assistant coach.

"I am very excited to have Brandon back with us here at Susquehanna," Findlay said. "He has spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Lycoming College, gaining invaluable experience under former SU standout Nate Gibboney '05. I am confident with Brandon's playing and coaching experience that he will help get us back on track this coming season."

During Kates's tenure at Lycoming, the Warriors won the 2013 MAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history. One year later, Lycoming went 15-3-3 and advanced to the MAC championship game.

As a Crusader, Kates enjoyed a four-year playing career and served as team captain in 2012. He appeared in 61 games as a defender and was named a Third-Team All-American by D3soccer.com in 2012, the same season in which he was also an All-Landmark Conference First-Team selection. That year, Susquehanna finished the season ranked No. 13/15 in the nation, recorded program records in wins (18), shutouts (12), All-Landmark Conference players (7) and NCAA Tournament wins (2).
