Lima, Paluck Selected as SU Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, PA. – Men’s soccer and volleyball are represented in the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending Sept. 14 as junior goalkeeper Augusto Lima (Campinas, Brazil / Mercersburg Academy) and junior libero Sarah Paluck (Nesquehoning, Pa. / Tamaqua Area) have been honored.

Lima made two starts in net for the Crusaders and did not allow a goal in his 200 minutes of action in a 1-0-1 week for his team. In Wednesday’s 3-0 win at Misericordia, he posted a shutout with two saves and added six more in a 0-0 tie against York (Pa.) on Saturday. Against York, Lima made a diving save in the 84th minute to help bring the game to overtime.

Paluck started all five matches this week as SU went 5-0 and did not drop a single set en route to its third tournament title in as many weeks. Against Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, Paluck recorded a season-high 24 digs to go with two service aces.

Over four matches at the weekend’s Lycoming Invitational, the libero had 67 digs (5.58 per set) and a season-best five service aces in a 3-0 win over Elmira on Saturday.

Lima and the men’s soccer team will travel to Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Sept. 17 and open Landmark Conference competition on Saturday, Sept. 20 when they host USMMA at 1:00 p.m. Volleyball face nonconference opponent Johns Hopkins on Sept. 17 and will compete at the Elmhurst Invitational in Elmhurst, Ill. over the weekend.
