Men’s Soccer Loses at Home

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna men's soccer team battled against the Spartans of York College (Pa.) at home in the rain and could not pull off the win, losing 2-1.

York (2-2-1) struck first in the opening half when SU fouled in the box and York's Ryan Donahue made the penalty kick putting the Spartans up 1-0. The rest of the half would remained scoreless.

Early in the second half, the Crusaders (2-3) evened the score when Ryan Cronin (Andover, N.J. / Newton) scored off a pass from Sam Tana (Baldwin, Md. / St. Paul's). The score remained tied at 1-1until the 66th minute when York's Joel Teston scored what would be the winning goal, putting the Spartan's ahead 2-1.

The Crusaders took nine shots with four corner kicks while the Spartans took 25 shots and tallied five corner kicks.

SU goalie Augusto Lima (Campinas, Brazil / Mercersburg Academy) (2-3) made seven saves on nine shots on goal. Cronin, Elias George (Watsontown, Pa. / Warrior Run) and Garian Lashley (Aurora, Ontario / Bill Crothers Secondary) led the Crusaders in shots with two each.

Susquehanna returns to action Wednesday, September 16 when the team hosts Lebanon Valley. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
