Wilkes-Barre, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's soccer team won its second straight game Wednesday night against the Colonels of Wilkes University.
The first half was scoreless until the 18th minute when Wilkes (1-6) scored. Twelve minutes later SU (5-3) answered with a goal by Pedro Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Gunnery School (Conn.) to tie the game 1-1. Neither team would score for the remainder of the half.
At the 80th minute the Crusaders scored what would be the winning goal. Nick Fecci (Point Pleasant, N.J. / Point Pleasant) took the ball off of a throw-in from Max Reed (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area), spun around the defender and scored in the lower left side of the goal.
The Crusaders out-shot the Colonels 11-9 with five of those shots on goal. Fecci led SU in shots with four while Souza tallied three. Susquehanna totaled eight corner kicks to Wilkes' five. Goalie, Augusto Lima (Campinas, Brazil / Mercersburg Academy) (5-3) earned the win.
The Crusaders continue conference play on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Scranton.
