Men’s Soccer Ties with Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's soccer team traveled to Scranton today to take on the Royals of Scranton University in its second conference game of the season and finished with a 1-1 tie after double overtime.

In the first half, both teams took a total of four shots and neither team scored and went into halftime tied at 0-0. Two minutes into the second half, SU scored on a penalty kick taken by Sam Tana (Baldwin, Md. / St. Paul's), his third goal on the season. Scranton answered four minutes later with a goal to tie the game at one.

The score would remain 1-1 at the end of regulation and through both overtimes. The Crusaders' last chance to score came in regulation in the 65th minute with a header by Eric Dempsey (Danville, Pa. / Danville Area) that went high. The Royal's took their last shot in the 104th minute and it was wide.

The Crusaders took seven shots on the day and totaled 10 corner kicks. Tana took one shot and scored the only goal for SU while the remaining six shots were taken by six different players. Goalie, Augusto Lima (Campinas, Brazil / Mercersburg Academy) made three saves on four shots on goal.

Susquehanna travels to Penn St.-Harrisburg for a non-conference match-up on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The game starts at 7:00 p.m.
