SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's soccer team shut-out the Lions of Penn St.-Harrisburg, 1-0 at home Wednesday night.
The Crusaders (6-3-1) outshot the Lions (2-4-2) 21 to 10. SU tallied 18 shots on goal to PSH's two. Susquehanna totaled three corner kicks to Penn St.-Harrisburg's five.
In the first half, Susquehanna had ample opportunity to put the ball away and did with less than five minutes to play in the half. Paul Siekmann (Washington Crossing, Pa. / Council Rock North) made his first goal of the season when he snuck the ball past the goalie off of a blocked penalty kick thus putting the Crusaders up 1-0.
Penn St.-Harrisburg's defense picked it up in the second half holding SU to only six shots while the Crusaders held the Lions to four. Susquehanna took their last shot aiming for an insurance goal at 82:45, but was unsuccessful. The last shot from Penn St.-Harrisburg, who was looking to send the game into overtime, came at 89:59 but it went wide sealing the win for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders were led in shots by Ryan Cronin (Andover, N.J. / Newton) and Nick Fecci (Point Pleasant, N.J. / Point Pleasant) with four each, both tallying one shot on goal. Pedro Souza (Sao Paulo, Brazil / Gunnery School (Conn.)) and Maxfield Reed (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) followed closely with three. Elias George (Watsontown, Pa. / Warrior Run) took two shots, both of which were on goal. Goalie, Augusto Lima (Campinas, Brazil / Mercersburg Academy) faced two shots on goal and saved them both to earn the shut-out.
