SELINSGROVE, Pa. – It was another tie for the Susquehanna men's soccer team as the Crusaders played visiting Drew University to a double overtime, scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon in Landmark Conference action.
While goals were hard – or impossible – to come by, shots were not. Drew finished with 17 to SU's 16. The Rangers (8-1-2, 1-0-1) put just six of those on goal while Susquehanna (6-3-2, 1-0-2) managed to put seven on goal.
Crusader goalie Augusto Lima finished with six saves, four of which came after the first half. Nick Fecci led SU with three shots, one of 10 players to record at least one shot in the game.
In the final minutes of the opening half, both teams had chances to get on the board but Sean Leister's shot in the 42nd minute was saved and with 60 seconds left, Drew's Anthony McMyne had a shot blocked to keep it 0-0 at halftime.
The Rangers nearly had the game won when Dylan Hammer's shot with a mere six seconds left hit the post, forcing overtime.
Drew accounted for the only shot in the first overtime period and both of SU's shots in the second overtime period were either wide or saved by Rangers goalie John Marques to end the game without a goal for either team.
