Men’s Soccer Falls Late to No. 21 Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Two late goals by No. 21 Elizabethtown College broke a 1-1 tie and handed the Susquehanna men's soccer team a 3-1 road conference loss.

tied the game at one in the 52nd minute but the Blue Jay's Jeff Light scored twice in a six-minute span to put his team ahead 3-1, which remained the final score.

Crusader goalie Augusto Lima racked up seven saves as Elizabethtown (10-1-1, 4-0-0) had 19 shots in the game. Susquehanna (6-4-2, 1-1-2) had 15 of its own but put only four on goal. Nick Fecci led SU with four shots while Dempsey had two shots, including the goal.

The Blue Jays' Gilbert Waso scored off an assist from Light roughly 19 minutes into the game. SU fired off five shots in the remaining 25 minutes of the game, including a shot from Elias George in the 44th minute that sailed wide right.

On their first shot of the second half, the Crusaders got on the board when Dempsey found the upper left corner of the goal to knot the game at one in the 52nd minute.

Twenty-three minutes later, Light scored his first goal of the game to break that tie and make it 2-1 in favor of the Blue Jays. Light then headed a ball past Lima for his second score of the night while giving Elizabethtown a two-goal cushion with just 10 minutes left to play in regulation.

SU's final scoring threat of the night came when Sean Leister's shot went wide left with 5:21 remaining.

Susquehanna returns home to host Gettysburg on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
