SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The men's soccer team shut out the Eagles of Juniata College 3-0 at home Wednesday night.
SU (8-5-2, 3-1-2) scored early at the 11:11 mark when Eric Dempsey scored in the lower left of the goal off a pass from Max Reed. Ten minutes later, the Crusaders scored an insurance goal when Dempsey's shot rebounded and Pedro Souza followed through to get the goal.
Susquehanna's third goal came in the second half when Jake Heyser scored on another Dempsey blocked shot putting the Crusaders up 3-0.
Juniata's last chance to score came with just three seconds left when Charlie Jones took a shot high.
Susquehanna took 20 shots, seven on goal, while holding Juniata (3-11-1, 0-6) to nine with only two on goal.
"This game was a great effort all around for a consistent 90 minutes of play," head coach Jim Findlay said. "We created a lot of offense and at the same time our defense kept the pressure up to limit Juniata's chances on offense."
The Crusaders were led in shots by Dempsey with five while Heyser followed closely with three. Jeremy Motsko and Reed ended the night with two each and eight other players took one.
SU goalie Augusto Lima made two saves on two shots on goal to earn the shutout.
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Catholic for a 1:00 p.m. game.
