Men’s Soccer Drops 1-0 in Double Overtime at Ursinus

THE STORYLINE: The Susquehanna men's soccer team dropped its season opener 1-0 at Ursinus in double overtime.

THE RECORDS: The River Hawks start the season 1-0 while Ursinus is now 1-0.

REGULATION: Neither team scored in regulation as the Bears out-shot the River Hawks 10-6. SU's Thomas Burke took the first shot of the game – just over three minutes in – but it went wide. Susquehanna took its last chance to score in regulation play with 26:11 remaining on the clock in the second half while Ursinus' last chance shot came with 28 seconds remaining.

OVERTIME: In the first overtime period, each team managed one shot but it was not enough as the score remained 0-0. In the second overtime, Ursinus out-shot Susquehanna 3-0 with the last earning the Bears the win when Rocco Mesoraca scored with 38 seconds remaining on the clock.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Goalie Ian Lawlor played all 109:22 minutes and had one save on two shots on goal. Nick Fecci and Jake Heyser totaled two shots a piece for four of the River Hawks' seven shots.

UP NEXT: Susquehanna will host Elmira on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 5:00 p.m. for its home opener.
