Men’s Soccer Grabs Road Draw

THE SHORT STORY: The Susquehanna men's soccer team tied Stockton 1-1 on the second and final day of the Stockton Seashore Classic. The River Hawks went 0-1-1 over the two days, falling to Ramapo on Saturday afternoon.

RECORDS: SU is now 1-3-1 on the season while Stockton is 1-2-1. It was SU's second overtime game of the fall.

SU TAKES LEAD: Freshman Max Maidenberg scored his second goal of the season in the 58th minute to briefly put Susquehanna ahead 1-0. Nick Fecci came up with the assist on Maidenberg's goal which came on a shot from 15 yards out. Maidenberg now leads the team with two goals.

GAME-TYING GOAL: Unfortunately, Susquehanna's 1-0 lead lasted less than seven minutes. Stockton's Darnell Lopez scored in the 65th minute.

LAST CHANCE: The River Hawks' last real chance to win the game came with just under four minutes to play in the second overtime when Maxfield Reed's shot sailed high of the goal.  

TEAM STATS: SU narrowly edged Stockton in shots, 10-9, but both teams put three shots on goal and both goalies had two saves apiece with SU goalie Chris Dempsey playing all 110 minutes. The Ospreys did hold an 11-9 edge in corner shots.

STREAK SNAPPED: Sunday snapped a brief, two-game stretch without a goal for the River Hawks.

UP NEXT: Susquehanna remains on the road for a third-straight game when the River Hawks travel to Lebanon Valley on Sept. 14 for a 4 p.m. game.
