SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna field hockey player Hunter Pitman and men's soccer player Zachary Goodwin have been named the inaugural SAAC High Flyers of the Week, which takes the place of SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders.
Pitman started both games the River Hawks played this week. In the first game she totaled four shots, three on goal, in SU's 3-0 win over DeSales University.
In the second game of the week, Pitman scored three of the team's four goals against Goucher for a hat trick. The freshman's first goal came just over four minutes into the game when she scored an unassisted goal and followed that up two minutes later with her second goal. Pitman's third goal came in the second half when she scored on a penalty corner at the 43:03 mark.
This season, Pitman is tied for first on the team in points (16) and goals with eight. She has totaled 26 shots – second best on the team.
The River Hawks are currently 7-2 overall with a 1-1 mark in the Landmark and return to action on Wednesday, October 5 at the College of Notre Dame for a 4:30 p.m. game.
Goodwin, who moved from center midfielder to center defender at the beginning of the week, anchored an SU defense that held both Penn St.-Harrisburg and Goucher College scoreless as the River Hawks went 1-0-1 on the week.
Susquehanna is currently 4-5-2 overall with a 1-0-1 mark in Landmark Conference action. The River Hawks remain on the road on Wednesday, October 5 for a 7:00 p.m. game at Juniata.
