Men’s Soccer Surrenders an Early Lead in First Loss

Elias George scored early in the game as he finished a crossing pass from Thomas Burke giving the Susquehanna University Men's Soccer team a lead 15 minutes into the game but Elmira College rebounded to score twice and escape with a 2-1 victory in the non-conference matchup Sunday on Campus Field in Elmira.

Susquehanna (1-1) controlled the majority of the game and finished with a 13-5 advantage over Elmira (1-1) in shots and had a majority of the play in the offensive end of the field in the closing minutes but could not score the equalizer.

Elmira tied the game less than three minutes after the George goal and scored the go-ahead goal in the 64th minute. The Golden Flyers managed just five shots in the game and only one in the second half.

The River Hawks return to action Wednesday with a 5 p.m. game at Lycoming and are home Saturday at 2 p.m. against Stockton.
