The Susquehanna University Men's Soccer team played even with Gettysburg College for a majority of the contest but a goal with less than 10 minutes left gave the visiting Bullets a 1-0 non-conference victory Tuesday night on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
Susquehanna (4-7-2 overall) held strong in the first half as Gettysburg (10-2-0) holding a slim 8-7 edge in shots through the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, the River Hawks stayed in the game despite statistically not recording a shot in the final 45 minutes of action.
Gettysburg had a good scoring chance early in the second half but Brennan Colby was able to stop the run to the net after Matt Ellingworth had tried to make the save by coming off his line near the top of the box.
Ellingworth was credited with six saves for the River Hawks.
The River Hawks resume Landmark Conference action with a 4 p.m. Saturday match at Sassafras Field against Drew University.
