SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Two swimmers swept the Super Crusader awards for the week ending Nov. 7 as freshman Josh Heller (Rockville, Md.) and sophomore Abby Gernert (Elizabethtown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) were named the male and female recipients.
Both the men’s and women’s teams squared off against Catholic last Saturday, with the men taking a 152-110 decision from the Cardinals while the women were edged by just two points, 132-130.
Heller had a record-breaking performance in his team’s win as he set a Susquehanna record in the 50 free with his time of 21.43. He surpassed the previous mark of 21.27. Heller also won the 100 free and was a member of the winning 200 medley and 200 free relay teams. His efforts earned him Landmark Conference Male Swimmer of the Week honors.
Gernert, meanwhile, won two individual events – the 100 back (1:03.07) and 200 back (2:17.09). Her time in the 100 was a personal-best by one second. Gernert was also on the second-place 200-yard free relay team which posted a time of 1:46.29.
