Crusaders Fall to Albright in Non-Conference Meet
READING, Pa. -- Against former Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Albright, Susquehanna's men's and women's swimming teams were defeated by the Lions on Saturday afternoon.
The men's team (5-2, 4-1) lost 116-89. The women's team (6-1, 5-1) was defeated 117-86.
In the women's 200 medley relay, SU placed second with a time of 1:56.09 behind Michelle Delgado (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area), Alex Bornman (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley), Avanti Banks (East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) and Annie Bruxelles (Hockessin, Del. / Sanford School).
Devin Lessard (Chestertown, Md. / Queen Anne's County) took home the 1000 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 10:55.39. She won the 100 butterfly, posting a time of 1:00.46, beating out Banks by just over two seconds and also placed second in the 200 yard IM, recording a mark of 2:17.21.
Kyle Seaman (Morland Hills, Ohio / Orange) placed second in the 50 yard freestyle, posting a personal best of 25.75. Bornman finished in third, only .20 seconds behind Seaman.
Bornman placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.52, a p.r.
In the 400 yard freestyle relay, SU placed first and second. The first place team finished in 3:54.06 behind Banks, Lexi Cole (Danville, Pa. / Danville Area), Bruxelles and Seaman.
In the men's 200 medley relay, the Crusaders placed first with a time of 1:40.87 with swims from Taylor Cole (Danville, Pa. / Danville Area), Chadd Lee (Bloomsburg, Pa. / Bloomsburg Area), Nick Boyle (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) and Cameron Boster (Burke, Va. / Robinson Secondary School).
Josh Heller (Rockville, Md. / Colonel Zadok Magruder) placed first in the 50 yard freestyle, registering a mark of 20.96, an Albright pool record.
He also won the 100 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 47.26 in the finals for a personal best.
Cole placed second in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 57.32.
Lee won the 200 IM, recording a time of 2:01.28 in the finals. He took home the 100 breaststroke as well, registering a p.r. of 1:01.62. The Crusaders took three of the top four spots in this event.
Both swim teams compete in the Landmark Conference Championships Feb. 10-12 held at Marywood.
