Swimmers Sweep Rookie of the Month Honors
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna's men's and women's swimming programs are represented as January's SAAC Rookies of the Month honors are given to Tyler Patrick (Mount Laurel, N.J. / Lenape) and Kyle Seaman (Moreland Hills, Ohio / Orange).
Patrick guided the men's team to a 3-1 record in January. He helped the 3x166 yard freestyle scramble relay team finish fourth (5:25.57) at the Tampa Meet in Florida over New Year's.
He then helped the 400 yard medley relay team to a first place finish against Messiah (3:39.96) on Jan. 13. He also took home first place versus the Falcons in the 500 yard freestyle (5:13.91).
At Marywood on Jan. 14, he won the 200 yard mixed backstroke (2:05.76) and finished in third place in the 200 yard IM (2:09.63).
Patrick took second place in the 200 yard breaststroke versus Drew (2:31.42) on Jan. 21.
Seaman also guided the women's squad to a 3-1 record last month. She helped the 400 yard relay team finish sixth (4:01.74) at the Tampa Meet.
Against Messiah, she placed first in the 200 yard freestyle (2:04.73) and helped the 400 yard freestyle relay team to a second place finish (3:55.07).
At Marywood, Seaman guided the 200 yard medley relay team to a first place finish (1:59.72). She recorded the second best time in the 50 yard freestyle (26.59) and the 100 yard freestyle (56.94).
Against Drew and Juniata, she helped the 200 yard medley relay squad record the fastest time against (2:00.57). She won the 100 yard freestyle (59.24) and placed second in the 200 yard freestyle (2:04.89).
At former MAC-opponent Albright, Seaman finished second in the 50 yard freestyle (25.75), which is the fourth fastest mark in the Landmark Conference this season.
She recorded the fifth fastest time in the league during the 100 yard freestyle (56.07). She also aided the 400 yard freestyle relay team to first place against the Lions (3:54.06).
Both freshmen will be competing in the Landmark Conference Championships at Marywood on Feb. 10-12.
