SCRANTON, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's swimming and diving team defeated Marywood University 165-129 Friday night.
The team started out the night on a high note as the 200 yard medley relay team consisting of Eric Lawrence, Danny Csakai, Duncan Frazier and James Orzolek took first with a time of 1:39.63. Another SU 200 medley relay team consisting of Harry Hall, Nicholas MacDonald-Martell, Ryan Rizzuto and Connor Mitchell took third with a time of 1:47.70.
The Crusaders took first and fourth in the 100 yard backstroke when David Miller finished with a time of 56.27 and Jack Olson finished with a time of 59.30. In the 100 yard breaststroke, SU earned points when Csakai finished first (1:01.94), Dillon Warr finished third (1:07.01) and MacDonald-Martell fifth (1:10.55).
Susquehanna took the top three spots in the 200 yard butterfly. Lawrence came in first with his time of 2:03.50 while Rizzuto (2:07.48) and Matthew Lustburg (2:13.01) set PR's and finished second and third, respectively.
James Orzolek broke into the record book in both the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyles. In the 50 he finished second with a PR of 22.02 while winning the 100 with a PR of 48.06. Both times were eighth all-time.
In diving, Jake Skucaton finished third in the one meter and second in the three meter.
David Miller won the 200 yard backstroke (2:06.16) while Lustburg (2:12.30), Olson (2:12.71) and Nathan (2:13.34) finished fourth through sixth. Lawrence and Warr took the top two spots in the 200 yard breaststroke with respective times of 2:18.19 and 2:24.77 while Matthew Giroux finished fourth (2:33.00).
Crumrine took finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with his time of 5:02.53 while Steven McFarland and Chang finished third and fourth with their times of 5:09.25 and 5:11.62. In the 100 yard butterfly, SU finished second (Stewart, 56.19), third (Hall, 57.72) and fourth (Frazier, 57.85).
In the 200 yard IM, Lawrence won with his time of 2:03.96 while Warr (2:10.89) and Rizzuto (2:12.62) came in third and fourth.
In the last event of the night, the Crusaders took second and third in the 200 yard freestyle relay with times of 1:29.58 (Stewart, Csakai, Frazier and Orzolek) and 1:32.12 (Connor O'Hagen, Crumrine, Miller and Mitchell).
Susquehanna returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 16 when the team hosts Franklin & Marshall at 2 p.m. on Senior Day.
