SOMERS, Wis. – Susquehanna swimmers Katie Willis and Eric Lawrence have been named the CollegeSwimming.com Landmark Conference Swimmers of the week announced Wednesday.
On Jan. 15, SU's women defeated Marywood 163-116 on the road. Willis won the 200 yard and the 100 yard freestyle with respective times of 1:58.50 and 54.96. In the 200 free, her time was five seconds faster than the second place finisher and in the 100 free her time was four seconds faster. She was also a member of the first-place 200 yard medley relay team (1:52.68).
On Jan. 16, SU's women tied (131-131) regionally ranked No. 9 Franklin & Marshall. Willis won both the 100 yard freestyle (54.60) and the 50 yard freestyle (25.24). Her 100 free time was just under three seconds faster than the second-place finisher. She was also a member of both the winning 200 yard medley (1:53.11) and the 400 yard freestyle (3:44.28) relay teams.
Lawrence won all four events that he competed in as the men's team defeated Marywood 165-129. In the 200 yard butterfly, his time of 2:03.50 was four seconds faster than the second place finisher. In the 200 yard breaststroke, Lawrence set a personal record (PR) with a time of 2:18.19 and was five seconds faster than the runner-up. In the 200 yard IM he finished with a time of 2:03.96 while he was also a member of the winning 200 yard medley relay team (1:39.63).
The men's team lost to Franklin & Marshall 150.5-111.5. Lawrence won two events and came in second. He won the 100 yard backstroke (54.98) and was a member of the first-place 200 yard medley relay team (1:38.84). In the 200 yard backstroke (1:59.90) and the 200 yard IM (2:04.51) he finished second.
The Crusaders return to the pool on Friday, Jan. 22 when they host Division II Bloomsburg at 6 p.m.
