Men’s Swimming & Diving Competes at Day One of Landmark Championships

GERMANTOWN, Md. – After day one of the Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, the Susquehanna men stand in third place.

Eight-time defending champion USMMA leads with 289 points, followed by The Catholic University of America (199 points), the Crusaders (194), Marywood (120), Goucher (107), Elizabethtown (54) and Drew (48).

The night started with the 200 yard freestyle relay team of Jourdan Stewart, Danny Csakai, Duncan Frazier and James Orzolek picked up a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:25.73.

David Miller finished fourth in the 500 yard freestyle with a personal record (PR) time of 4:46.06 while Bill Crumrine (4:47.57), Steven McFarland (4:53.64) and Ryan Nathan (4:54.43) placed sixth, 10th and 11th. McFarland's and Nathan's times place them in seventh and eighth in the SU record books.

In the 200 yard IM, Eric Lawrence earned 16 third-place points with his time of 1:55.97 while Csakai earned 14 points in fifth (1:57.69). Frazier (21.76), Stewart (21.81) and Orzolek (21.76) placed fifth, seventh and ninth in the 50 yard freestyle. Stewart's and Orzolek's times were PR's with Orzolek moving into sixth in the record book. Connor Mitchell placed 13th with his PR time of 22.23 – good for 10th all-time.

The night ended with the 400 yard medley relay team consisting of Lawrence, Csakai, Stewart and Orzolek finished tied for second with their time of 3:29.53.

Day two of the championships begin Saturday at 10 a.m.
