QUICK STORY: The Susquehanna men's swimming and diving team defeated Landmark Conference opponents Marywood and Drew on Saturday afternoon. SU scored 194 points to Marywood's 73 and 169 points to Drew's 98.
RECORD: The River Hawks are now 2-0 overall with a 2-0 mark in Landmark Conference action.
WINNING WAYS: The River Hawks won 10 of 14 events on Saturday, starting with the first event of the day, diving. Kyle O'Donnell scored 318.38 points in the one-meter dive to win easily, scoring 128.78 more points than the second place finisher from Marywood.
Nathan Ryan won the 1000-yard freestyle with his time of 10:31.73 while Grove and Owen Madden finished first (56:50) and second (57:44) in the 100-yard backstroke setting personal records (PR) in the process.
Sullivan won the 100-yard breaststroke with his PR time of 1:03.96 and Orzolek won both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles with his times of 22.46 and 48.80. Madden set a PR with his first-place time of 2:07.28 in the 200-yard backstroke.
Eric Lawrence set a PR in the 100-yard IM with a winning time of 1:03.14. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Grove, Bill Crumrine, David Miller and Orzolek finished the meet on a high note as they won the event with their time of 3:23.89.
OTHER NOTABLE FINISHES: Bryan Colby placed third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a PR of 11:10.25 while Miller finished the 200-yard freestyle less than one second behind the first-place finisher with his third-place time of 1:49.49.
Ryan Rizzuto came in second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.33) and third in the 100-yard butterfly (57.21) while Grove set a PR in the 50-yard freestyle with his time of 22.84 for third place. Lawrence came in second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.66 while Crumrine finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.91).
WHAT'S NEXT? Susquehanna returns to the pool on Saturday, November 12, at Gettysburg for a 1:00 p.m. meet. Messiah will also compete at the meet.
