The Susquehanna University men's swimming and diving team recorded three second place finishes and three third place finishes as the River Hawks dropped a 125-72 decision Friday night to Division II Bloomsburg at the Nelson Field House Pool in Bloomsburg. Susquehanna (3-3) opened the meet with a strong finish in the 400-yard Medley Relay with one of the best finishes of the night in the battle for second place.
The River Hawks trailed at the start of the final leg of the race but James Orzolek closed with the fastest freestyle leg of the race with a 22.89 to lead Susquehanna to a narrow margin to capture second place with a 3:39.51 just .33 of a second ahead of the third place Bloomsburg entry.
Orzolek was also second later in the meet in the 100 back finishing just 1.37 seconds out of first and was also third in the 50 free for the River Hawks. Bryan Colby was second in the 1000 free and Ryan Nathan finished third in the 500 free.
The 400-yard free relay captured first place points in the final race of the night with a time of 1:31.41. The top two Bloomsburg entries were exhibition for the race. The Susquehanna relay featured Lawrence, Bill Crumrine, Miller and Kelly Swider.
The River Hawks return to the pool at 2 p.m. Saturday with a home meet against Goucher.
