Men’s Swimming and Diving Rocket Past Royals in Home Finale

Freshmen David Grove and Shane Sullivan along with sophomore James Orzolek posted four victories each leading the Susquehanna University Men's Swimming and Diving team past Scranton by a 162-109 score Saturday in the final home meet of the season at the James Garrett Sports Complex pool in Selinsgrove.

Grove, Sullivan and Orzolek teamed with senior Eric Lawrence to win the opening event of the day with a time of 1:41.91 in the 200-yard Medley Relay. It was the first of many wins on the day as the men captured the top spot in each of the 14 events against the Royals.

Grove added wins in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke and teamed with seniors Bill Crumrine and David Miller as well as Orzolek to finish first in the 400-yard Free Relay to end the meet.

Sullivan was the top swimmer in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke as well as the 200-yard Individual Medley while Orzolek added individual wins in back-to-back races in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events.

Crumrine added a win in the 1000-yard freestyle and Miller won the 200 free. Lawrence was the winner in the 100 and 200 butterfly events for the River Hawks.

Ryan Nathan won the 500-yard freestyle race to round out the victories for Susquehanna.

The River Hawks close out the regular season at Catholic next Saturday in final preparation for the Landmark Conference Championships Feb. 17-19 at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center in Boyds, Maryland.
