Men’s Swimming and Diving Picked Third in Preseason Poll

The Susquehanna University Men's Swimming and Diving team open the season Oct. 20 and found out Thursday that the Landmark Conference coaches had predicted the River Hawks would finish third in the 2017-18 Preseason poll released by the conference office Thursday morning.

Catholic University was tabbed as the favorite to with the conference title earning 70 points and seven first-place votes. Scranton was second in the voting with 54 points and the final first-place vote and Susquehanna was close behind in third place with 50 points. Drew University (33 points) was fourth followed by Marywood (21), Elizabethtown (20), Goucher (17) and Juniata (7).

"We are looking forward to the opportunity of rising up to the challenge for the conference meet," said Head Coach Jerry Foley. "We are a young team but I have seen a lot of determination in the pool throughout the preseason and I am excited about where we are and where I think we can be by the time the conference meet comes."

The River Hawks, who finished third in last year's conference championship meet, open the 2017-18 season October 20th with the annual Ged Schweickert Relays meet in the Garrett Center pool. The Landmark Championships are scheduled for February 16-18 in Germantown, Maryland.
