David Grove placed second in the 100 Backstroke and James Orzolek was second in the 100 Freestyle for the Susquehanna University Men's Swimming and Diving team as the River Hawks dropped a pair of decisions Saturday at Gettysburg College in a tri-meet with Messiah College.
Susquehanna fell to Messiah by a score of 150-111 and was defeated by Gettysburg by a score of 207-54.
Grove was involved in one of the best finishes of the day but was out touched at the wall by just .02 seconds in the 100 Back race. Orzolek swam a 49.04 in the 100 Free for his second place finish. He was also fourth in the 50 Free and was part of two fourth place relays as he teamed with Grove, Shane Sullivan and Brett Walker in the 200 Medley Relay and swam with Grove, Walker and David Brady in the 200 Free Relay. Grove was also fourth in the 200 Back.
Sullivan added a third place finish in the 100 Breaststroke and was also fourth in the 200 Breast. Ryan Rizzuto had a pair of fourth place finishes in the 100 and 200 Butterfly races and Owen Kelly scored fourth place points in the 1000 Free for the River Hawks
The swimmers are back in action after the Thanksgiving break at the Total Performance Sports Camps Invitational at Kenyon or the Gettysburg Invitational in a split squad pair of events November 30. The Susquehanna divers will compete at the Catholic Invitational Nov. 18.
