David Grove has Three First-Place Finishes against Scranton

Sophomore David Grove earned a pair of first-place finishes in the two backstroke events and also led the Susquehanna University Men's Swimming team to relay victory as the River Hawks defeated Scranton in a late-season dual in Scranton.

Susquehanna (4-4) won the team points race by a 161-101 score.

Grove teamed with David Brady, Brett Walker and James Orzolek to win the 400-yard freestyle relay and earlier in the meet, he touched the wall first in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke races winning the 100 in 53.90 and taking the 200 in 1:58.54.

Walker also had a first-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley and was second in the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard medley relay. In the medley relay, he teamed with Grove, Shane Sullivan and Ryan Rizzuto.

Orzolek won all three sprint freestyle races with a first-place finish in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle races. Sullivan added a first=place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke and Rizzuto was second in the 200-yard butterfly.

Ryan Nathan was first for the River Hawks in the 1000-yard freestyle as well.

Susquehanna will next compete at the Landmark Conference Championship meet Feb. 16-18 in Germantown, Maryland.
