TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna men's and women's tennis team swept the Landmark Conference's Athlete of the Week award for the week ending October 2. Alexander Dove won for the men while Alyssa Fleischman won for the women.
Dove scored two of SU's four points in a 5-4 loss to Alvernia University on September 27. He competed at number two doubles with Nicholas Meale and they defeated their opponents 8-3. Dove then defeated Colin MacCloskey 7-5, 6-3 at number two singles.
The River Hawks are 4-1 on the season.
Fleishman won four of the five matches that she played as SU went 2-1 on the week. Fleischman and Megan Rudloff won 8-1 at number one doubles against Keystone College as Susquehanna won 9-0. In a 6-3 win over Lycoming College, the senior won 8-1 at number one doubles with Abagail Ransom and she won 6-1, 6-1 at number two singles.
In the last match of the week, Fleischman and her partner Rudloff scored one of SU's two points against Alvernia University (7-2) at number one doubles. Fleischman dropped her only match of the week at number two doubles 6-1, 6-2 against Alvernia.
Susquehanna is 3-2 on the season and both teams end the fall season at Penn St.-Harrisburg on Saturday, October 8 with 12:00 p.m. matches.
