Junior Taylor Swim had two of the closest matches of the day as he won a close singles match and also teamed with sophomore Garrett Deyle for a tiebreaker win at No. 3 doubles to lead the Susquehanna University Men's Tennis team to a season-opening 9-0 sweep over Penn College of Technology Saturday afternoon in Williamsport.
Swim posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles for the closest singles match of the day. Alexander Dove was a 6-0. 6-0 winner at No. 1 singles while Nicholas Meale and Ryan Seibert were both 6-0, 6-1 winners at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
Alexander Cocolas won a 6-3, 6-0 match at No. 4 and Jacob Mowery was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 6 to cap the singles sweep.
In doubles action, Meale and Seibert won 8-1 in the No. 1 position while Dove and Cocolas teamed for an 8-0 win at No. 2.
Swim and Deyle posted the 9-8 win after an 8-6 tie breaker edge for the No. 3 doubles victory.
The River Hawks return to action at 3 p.m. Thursday at Lycomong.
