MADISON, N.J. – Two Susquehanna track & field athletes were named Landmark Conference Athletes of the Week following last Friday's SU Open. Sophomore Shannon Galvin (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South) earned her first career Track Athlete of the Week honor while Ken Schetroma (Elysburg, Pa./Southern Columbia) picked up his second Field Athlete of the Week award of the season.
Galvin set a 10-second PR in the one mile with her time of 5:22.61, placing seventh overall and first among DIII runner. Her time also marked the fastest time in the Landmark this season. Galvin also ran on the 4 x 400 relay team that placed among DIII teams and fourth overall with a time of 4:20.3.
Meanwhile, Schetroma set a PR in the weight throw with a toss of 15.05m to take fifth in the event, second among DIII competitors. That distance is also the best mark in the conference to date. Schetroma also took home fifth in the shot put with a toss of 15.33m.
Friday's meet served as a final tune-up for this Saturday's Landmark Conference Championships, hosted by SU. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
