Men’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's track & field team opened its 2016 outdoor season on Saturday at Juniata.

In the throws, Jared Minori won the javelin with a throw of 60.95m and Alex Messick took third with his throw of 52.28m.

Tom Schetroma was sixth in the hammer (36.83m), fourth in the discus (36.54m) and second in the shot put (14.44m). Ryan Bertsch earned fifth in the discus with a mark of 35.74m.

In the long jump, Desmond Edwards was 13th with a mark of 5.82m. He also went on to take fourth in the triple jump (12.50m).

On the track, Colin Eberhardt and John Crowe were third and fourth, respectively, in the 5000m run with times of 15:37.00 and 16:04.39. Dan Isenberg placed sixth (16:26.04) in the event.

In the 3000m run, Mark Harrel and John Matthews were seventh and eighth with respective times of 9:33.86 (a PR) and 9:33.98 while Peter Lynch's time of 9:44.30 earned him 10th with Kyle Skelton in 11th (9:46.26).

In the 400m run, Matt Gass ran to a fourth-place finish with a time of 50.43 while in the 800m run, Kaleb Waiwada's time of 2:04.07 placed him 10th overall. Justin Skavery was 10th in the 1500m run (4:16.13).

Kwane Hayle took second in the 100m dash with his time of 11.29 while Kyle Entin placed 18th in the 200m dash with a time of 24.28.

Finally, William Claxton took seventh in the 400m hurdles after crossing the finish in 1:00.71.

The team returns home to host its annual Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday, March 26 beginning at 11 a.m.
