SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna men's field athlete Jared Minori and softball player Jackie Gore have been named SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending March 20.
Minori competed in the opening outdoor track and field meet at Juniata College this past weekend and won the javelin with a throw of 200' 00", 22 feet farther than the runner up. His mark is currently second in all of NCAA Division III.
The Susquehanna track and field squad returns to action on Saturday, March 26 when the team hosts the Jim Taylor Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.
Gore started both games against Drew at first base this weekend and finished with a .750 batting average, two home runs, eight RBI's, two walks, four runs scored and no strikeouts. She had an on-base percentage of .833 and a 2.750 slugging percentage. She had one homerun in each game with both coming as "walk-off" home runs – the first won the game in the bottom of the seventh and the second ended the game via the mercy rule.
This season, Gore has started all 12 games and is batting .241 with a team-high four homeruns team-leading 15 RBI's seven hits, seven runs scored, one double, one triple, two walks and a .759 slugging percentage.
SU is 9-4 overall this season with a 2-0 mark in Landmark Conference action. The team travels to Dickinson on Thursday, March 24 for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
