Men’s Track & Field Competes at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's track & field team took to the road to compete in the Millersville Metrics meet on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders had a solid showing in both the track and field events.

On the track, John Matthews and Kyle Skelton opened the day with second and fourth-place finishes, respectively, in the 10,000m run with times of 35:10.47 and 35:15.73.

Kwane Hayle was again SU's top finisher in the 100m dash, taking 11th with a time of 11.29. The senior went on to earn ninth in the 200m dash after crossing the finish in 22.23.

Matt Gass continued his solid start to the outdoor season by taking ninth in the 400m run with a time of 51.27. Kyle Entin and Kaleb Waiwada were 26th and 27th with respective times of 53.73 and 53.83.

In the 800m run, Justin Skavery's time of 2:03.23 earned him eighth overall with Ciaran Fisher's time of 2:03.44 (a PR) placing him 10th. Steve Rivlin (2:06.13) was 16th and Sage Weikel 19th (2:07.67).

John Crowe was first across the finish for Susquehanna in the 1500m run, posting a time of 4:12.94 to capture sixth place. Peter Lynch and Mark Harrel were 13th and 14th, respectively, with times of 4:27.74 and 4:29.50.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Colin Eberhardt won the event with a time of 9:52.42, just edging out the runner-up from York (Pa.) who posted a time of 9:52.91.

Andrew Farrell's time of 16.74 in the 110m hurdles was good for eighth overall and a personal best.

The 4 x 400 relay team of Entin, Waiwada, William Claxton and Justin Meyer took seventh with their time of 3:37.84 while the 4 x 800 team of Andrew Steely, Rivlin, Fisher and Skavery placed third with a time of 8:56.66.

In the field events, Jack DeLuca took home fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10m – easily setting a PR in the process – and Matthew Cultrera's long jump of 5.76m was good for 11th.

Tom Schetroma's throw of 14.17m in the shot put earned him third overall and his mark of 39.41m in the hammer throw placed him 12th.

SU returns to action on April 16-17 at Bucknell.
