Chris Petraskie and Matthew Gass each had first place finishes and the Susquehanna University Men's Track and Field team recorded 13 top-10 finishes at the SU Challenge Friday night in the James Garrett Sports Center in Selinsgrove.
Petraski won the high jump clearing a height of 6'3 ½" and Gass was the top finisher in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.60 which currently ranks among the top-40 nationally in the event.
In addition to the first place finishes, the River Hawks also had top-10 finishes from Rakee Cromwell (5' 11 ½") in the high jump for 5th place, Robert Marks (5' 7 ¾") for 10th in the high jump and he was also 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 21' 8" while Petraski was fourth and Cromwell was 8th in the triple jump, Joshua Brown was sixth in the shot put, Victor Gonzalez was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, Justin Skavery was ninth in the mile run and Ryan Bertsch (weight throw), John DeLuca (pole vault) and Torin McFarland (800-meters) all captured 10th place finishes.
Dylan Heisey was 14th in the weight thrown and 12th in the shot put while the trio of Brandon Sorge, Eric Pressler and John Matthews finished 22nd, 25th and 27th respectively within a span of eight seconds in the 3,000-meters.
The Track and Field teams are off this week and will host the SU Invitational Feb. 18.
