Cross Country Heads to Landmark Championships

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna men’s and women’s cross country teams travel to the Landmark Conference Championships in Towson, Md., on Saturday as Goucher College plays host to this year’s title meet.

The men’s squad is in search of its fourth-straight league title as it remains the only team to win a Landmark Men’s Cross Country championship. With a solid fall season, senior David Haklar (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and junior Ian Quinlan (Eagle View, Pa./Methacton/Lehigh) are expected to compete for the individual crown, as well.

On the women’s side, the Crusaders will look to live up to their  preseason number one ranking. Senior Alycia Woodruff (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and junior Casey Hess (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg Area) were consistent top finishers for head coach Marty Owens this year and are expected to help put SU in a strong position to contend for the title this weekend.

Woodruff is a two-time individual champion at this event and Hess is the reigning individual winner from a season ago.

The men’s 8k race begins at 11 a.m. with the women’s 6k beginning at noon. The awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at approximately 1:30 p.m.
