WAVERLY, Iowa – Susquehanna cross country runners Ian Quinlan (Eagle View, Pa./Methacton/Lehigh) and Alycia Woodruff (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) officially concluded their 2010 cross country seasons on Saturday at the NCAA Championships in Waverly, Iowa.
Quinlan, a junior, and Woodruff, a senior, were the two SU runners who qualified for the event after their solid performances at the NCAA Mideast Regionals one week ago and both runners would have been hard pressed to ask for better results on this Saturday.
Quinlan finished the 8k men’s course in 25:42, a personal-best time by an impressive 15 seconds. He finished 143rd out of 279 runners.
Woodruff, meanwhile, also set a personal-best with her time of 22:02 on the 6k course. It surpassed her previous record by 11 seconds and earned her a 54th-place finish, the highest finish by an SU runner at the national competition (Casey Hess finished 55th in 2009).
Susquehanna’s men’s and women’s teams captured the 2010 Landmark Conference title as head coach Marty Owens picked up Coach of the Year honors on both the men’s and women’s side. Woodruff also claimed the individual title at the event en route to being named Female Runner of the Year by the conference.
