Men’s Cross Country Picked to Repeat

MADISON, N.J. – The Susquehanna men’s cross country team has been picked to finish first in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, released Thursday. The Crusaders enter 2010 as the three-time defending league champions.

SU finished the poll with 83 votes, making the squad a nearly unanimous choice among the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. Susquehanna has captured each of the first three Landmark championship titles.
 
Moravian and Scranton tied for second with 65 points. Juniata (56 points), Merchant Marine Academy (55 points), Goucher (36 points), Drew (24 points) and Catholic University of America (19 points rounded out spots four through eight.
 
SU returns seven of its top eight runners from a season ago, six of whom placed in the top 11 at the Landmark meet. Senior Luke Trama (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) took third overall at the event and was a First-Team selection, while junior Ian Quinlan (Eagle View, Pa./Methacton) earned a spot on the Second Team. Quinlan was also named the Conference’s Newcomer of the Year in 2009.
 
Susquehanna opens the 2010 season on Sept. 4 at the Bucknell Open.
