Quinlan Named to All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Susquehanna senior cross country runner Ian Quinlan (Eagle View, Pa./Methacton/Lehigh) earned Division III All-Academic Status from the USTFCCCA for the 2011 cross country season. Quinlan was one of 141 male student-athletes named to list and one of just three Landmark Conference runners to receive the honor.

To qualify for the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.30 or higher through the most recent semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Quinlan had a career cross country season, qualifying for the DIII NCAA Championships for the second time in his career and proceeded to set a personal-best on the 8k championship course with his time of 25:12.97. He was also the top of the three Landmark Conference runners that competed at the championship race.

At the NCAA Regionals at DeSales University just one week prior, he placed third overall, thus earning a bid to the NCAA Championships, and was again the top conference finisher.

Quinlan, an earth and environmental sciences major, served as team captain for the 2011 cross country season. He is also serving as captain for the 2011-12 indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.
