Men’s, Women’s Cross Country Receive Academic Recognition

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Susquehanna men’s and women’s cross country teams have both been named Scholar Teams by the USTFCCCA following their respective 2011 campaigns.

A total of 187 institutions from 38 Division III conferences earned the honor. To qualify for the All-Academic Team, a squad must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.10 or higher through the fall semester.

The SU men’s squad boasted a 3.20 GPA while the women finished the semester with a team GPA of 3.42.

Earlier this month, senior Ian Quinlan (Eagle View, Pa./Methacton/Lehigh) was named a USTFCCCA Academic All-American, one of 141 male student-athletes from the DIII level to earn the honor. Quinlan qualified for the 2011 DIII NCAA Championships for the second time in his career and set a personal-best on the 8k championship course.
