Price, Carson Selected as Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Men’s cross country and volleyball are represented as this week’s Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders as sophomore Alex Price (Skytop, Pa. / Pocono Mountain East) and senior Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J. / James Caldwell) were selected for the period ending Sept. 16.

Price was the top finisher on the men’s squad at Juniata on Saturday. He finished the 8k course in a personal-best time of 27:13.50, less than a second off the top time and good for fifth overall. The Crusaders took second, just one point behind first-place Moravian.

Price has been the team’s top finisher in both races this season with two top-10 performances, setting PRs at the Bucknell three-mile and Juniata 8k.

Carson was named to the Franklin & Marshall Scramble All-Tournament Team following her performance over the weekend. She helped lead her team to a 3-1 win over Lebanon Valley (25-12, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16). Against the Dutchmen, Carson had eight kills, two assists, three aces, four digs and two block assists.

During the tournament, Carson finished with 35 kills, 18 digs and eight total blocks. Thus far in 2012, she leads the squad in kills (154) and is second in digs (109).

Price will lead the men’s cross country team at Lock Haven on Saturday, Sept. 22. Carson and the volleyball team host Hood on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to New York University for the Violet Classic Saturday and Sunday.
