GETTYSBURG, Pa. – A solid team effort guided the Susquehanna men’s cross country squad to a seventh-place finish at Saturday’s Gettysburg Invitational.
In a meet that featured a mix of Division I, II and III teams, the Crusaders finished seventh with 247 points and Lock Haven took first with 50 points in the 35-team field.
Sophomore Paul Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) earned a top-20 spot by posting a time of 26:12 on the 8k course, good for 19th overall as well as a PR. Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) was less than a minute behind, crossing the finish line in 27:07 and like Crowe, set a personal-best.
Sal D’Angelo (Glenside, Pa./Springfield Twp.) was next to finish for the Crusaders as he posted a career-best time of 27:11, a mere four seconds behind Price.
Freshmen Dan Isenberg (Danville, Pa./Warrior Run) (27:23) and Colin Eberhardt (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) (27:29) saw just six seconds separate them with Eberhardt surpassing his previous PR of 27:42. John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) also posted a sub-28 time, finishing in 27:40.
Sophomore Austin Iovoli (Victor, N.Y./Victor) was the seventh SU runner to finish with a career-best mark of 27:41 and two seconds later, Brandon Mash (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) crossed the line in 27:43.
The squad is back in action in two weeks as SU travels to Juniata on Oct. 27 to compete in the Landmark Conference Championships.
