Kane Named Senior Scholar-Athlete

TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna senior Brendan Kane (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) was named the Landmark Conference Cross Country Senior Scholar-Athlete.

A committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors and sports information directors selected the recipients, choosing one from each of the fall sports sponsored by the conference. The honorees must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher and are selected based on their accomplishments in all areas of athletics, academics and other extracurricular activities.

Kane is a four-year member of the men's cross country team, as well as the indoor and outdoor track & field squads. Kane and his Crusaders captured back-to-back Landmark Conference cross country titles from 2009-10 and finished as runners-up in 2011 and 2012. Kane competed in all four championship races and never finished below 31st overall, including a career-high 21st-place finish in 2011.

A business administration major with an entrepreneurship emphasis, Kane is a three-time member of the Landmark Fall Academic Honor Roll (2010-12) as well as a member of Susquehanna's Dean's List. Kane is also a member of the National Honors Society of the Social Sciences and a member of SU's Entrepreneurship Club.

Kane is the first Susquehanna men's cross country runner to be named a Senior Scholar-Athlete since 2008 when J.J. Brooks earned the award. He is also the 16th Crusader to earn the award in any of the Landmark-sponsored sports.
