ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Former Susquehanna men’s cross country standouts Ryan Gleason ’04 and Greg Pealer ’85 have been named to the MAC (Middle Atlantic Conference) 100 Fall Sports Century Team released on Tuesday.
Gleason was named a USTFCCCA Division III All-American in 2003 as a senior and holds the program record in the 8000m, finishing the Gulden Invitational in 24:47 on Oct. 3, 2003.
He also recorded the fastest 5.2 mile run on Sept. 7, 2002 at the Penn State Spiked Shoe Invitational, finishing the event in 27:03.38.
Pealer, a 1995 SU Hall of Fame inductee, was a two-time MAC Champion (1983-84) and led the 1984 team to the MAC title as the Crusaders earned a No. 21 national ranking. He earned USTFCCCA All-American status that same year.
He holds the MAC record in the 8000m, running at Memorial Lake State Park in 24:10 in 1983. Pealer also holds two other top-30 finishes all-time in the MAC 8000m.
The MAC 100 initiative, coordinated by Marie Stroman at Lebanon Valley College, selected former student-athletes in four different time periods stretching from 1912 to 2011.
Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship. The number of individuals selected per team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote.
