Crusader Men’s Cross Country Picked to Win Conference Title

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna men’s cross country has been voted number one in the Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, released Thursday.

SU is projected to win its fifth Landmark Conference title and first since 2010. The Crusaders received 67 points, 14 points ahead of Moravian, and six first-place votes. Juniata was third with 39 points, followed by USMMA (29), Scranton (25), Catholic (21), Drew (13) and Goucher (9).

Susquehanna finished second at last year’s championship meet and returns nine of its top 10 runners from one season ago, all of whom finished in the top 26 at the championship race. Among those nine runners include four All-Conference runners in Colin Eberhardt (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North), Paul Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area), Brandon Mash (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East).

The Crusaders were recently ranked 10th in the Mideast Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The team, under the guidance of 11th-year head coach Marty Owens, kicks-off the season on Aug. 31 at Bucknell. Catholic will host the Landmark Championships on Nov. 2 at the United States Soldiers and Airmen’s Home in Washington, D.C.
