LEWISBURG, Pa. – The 2013 season started on a positive note for the Susquehanna men’s cross country team which competed at the three-mile Bison Open on Saturday, a non-team scored meet.
The team averaged a time of 15:43 on the course, three seconds faster than in 2010, the last season the team captured the Landmark Conference title.
John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) and Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) took 10th and 11th, respectively, in 59-runner field with times of 15:19 and 15:21. Crowe’s time marked a 41-second PR while Price’s was a 25-second PR.
Colin Eberhardt (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) earned 18th overall with a time of 15:44 – a near one-minute PR – followed just one second behind by Dan Isenberg (Danville, Pa./Warrior Run) (15:45), who also set a PR.
Tied for 26th were seniors Brandon Mash (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) and Sal D’Angelo (Glenside, Pa./Springfield Twp.) with times of 15:57, both marking personal bests. Paul Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area), Scott Sullivan (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) and Peter Lynch (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) took the 37 through 39 spots with respective times of 16:23, 16:24 and 16:25. Sullivan easily set a personal-best on the course.
The team is off next week and returns to action on Sept. 14 at Elizabethtown.
