LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Susquehanna men’s cross country team earned a fourth-place finish at Saturday’s Lock Haven Open Invitational, finishing behind several nationally-ranked teams from the Division II and Division III levels.
Lock Haven, ranked 14th in Division II, won the invitational with Slippery Rock second and the 14th-ranked Division III squad from Carnegie Mellon taking third on the 8k course.
SU had three runners place in the top 30 of the 244-runner field. Senior Sal D’Angelo (Glenside, Pa./Springfield Twp.) was first across the finish for the Crusaders with a time of 25:59.70 which earned him 23rd overall and set a PR in the process. Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and Colin Eberhardt (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) were 25th and 26th with respective times of 26:00.90 and 26:03.00, with both setting personal bests.
Paul Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) and John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) recorded personal-best times of 26:09.70 and 26:10.30 for 32nd and 33rd-place finishes. Just three places behind John Crowe was Dan Isenberg (Danville, Pa./Warrior Run), whose time of 26:15.00 earned him 36th overall while setting a PR in the process.
Rounding out the top seven finishers for Susquehanna was Brandon Mash (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton), who took home 70th following a career-best time of 27:00.20.
The Crusaders are off next weekend and return to action on Oct. 5 at the Paul Short Invitational.
