SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Men’s and women’s cross country are represented as the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending Sept. 22 as senior Sal D’Angelo (Glenside, Pa. / Springfield Twp.) and sophomore Ashley West (East Hampton, N.Y. / East Hampton) have been selected.
D’Angelo competed at the Lock Haven 8k on Saturday where he posted a personal-best time of 25:59.70, beating his previous PR by 1:12.
D’Angelo placed 23rd of 244 runners as the Crusaders took fourth of 15 teams and finished behind two nationally ranked teams (DII Lock Haven and DIII Carnegie Mellon) and a Slippery Rock squad that was receiving votes in national polls.
West, meanwhile, set a PR by 1:13 at the Lock Haven 6k with her team-best time of 22:18, the third-fastest 6k mark in school history and second-fastest time in the Landmark Conference this year.
West placed 12th of 231 runners as SU finished 10th of 16 teams.
D’Angelo, West and both cross country teams will compete in the 40th-annual Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m.
