Open Race Results
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Susquehanna men’s cross country team competed in both the Brown 8k race and the men’s open 8k race at Saturday’s 40th-annual Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University. The women’s 6k White race, in which the team was scheduled to compete, was cancelled due to the heat.
In the Brown race, SU placed 29th with 794 points, four places ahead of Landmark Conference opponent Moravian, which took 33rd with 852 points. John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) was the team’s first runner across the finish in the race with a time of 27:18. Brandon Mash (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) was just behind him with a time of 27:24, just 10 seconds from tying his PR.
Dan Isenberg (Danville, Pa./Warrior Run) and Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) both crossed the finish in 27:40 and 23 seconds behind them was Colin Eberhardt (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) (28:03).
Rounding out the top seven in the race were Paul Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) (28:34) and Scott Sullivan (Silver Spring, Md./Northwood) (28:36), who set a 20-second personal-best.
In the men’s open 8k race, Evan Skelton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was the team’s top finisher with a time of 28:24. He was followed by Mike Salach (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson), who crossed the finish in 29:08 – a PR – and was followed by Justin Skavery (Mt. Carmel, Pa./Mt. Carmel) roughly 30 seconds later (29:42). Also finishing inside 30 minutes was Colby Brindle (State College, Pa./State College Area) (29:46). Billy Hornung (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) finished in 30:22 and Austin Iovoli (Victor, N.Y./Victor) was just behind him with a time of 30:38.
The team is back in action next Saturday at De Sales in what marks the final meet before the Landmark Conference Championships on Nov. 2.
