CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Six runners in the top 25 translated into an overall team win for the Susquehanna men’s cross country squad at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Crusaders placed first out of 20 teams with 46 points. Division II East Stroudsburg was second with 54, followed by DeSales in third place with 68 points.
Colin Eberhardt (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) was SU’s top finisher, taking seventh overall with a time of 26:45.88 on the 8k course. He was followed by Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) in ninth with his time of 26:55.33.
Susquehanna swept the 12 through 14 spots with Paul Crowe (Boalsbug, Pa./State College Area) taking 12th (27:02.69), followed by John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) (27:03.24) and Sal D’Angelo (Glenside, Pa./Springfield Twp.) (27:05.93). Dan Isenberg (Danville, Pa./Warrior Run) also posted a top-20 time, crossing the finish in 27:18.01, good for 19th.
Also finishing in the top seven for Susquehanna were Brandon Mash (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton) (27:42.29), who took 28th, and Mike Salach (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson), whose time of 28:28.26 earned him 60th in the 276-runner field.
Rounding out the Crusaders’ top-10 runners were Evan Skelton (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (28:32.11) in 64th, Matt Pezza (Delran, N.J./Delran) in 68th (28:35.13) and Mark Harrel (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon), whose time of 28:40.73 placed him 76th.
SU will host its annual Ashley Shell Tomlinson Memorial 5k Run on Saturday, Oct. 19 as part of Homecoming Weekend.
