SELINSGROVE, Pa.- Men’s cross country and women’s
basketball are represented as the Susquehanna Pepsi/SAAC Super
Crusaders for the period ending Nov. 16. Senior Alex Price
(Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and sophomore guard
Nikki Komara (Shamokin, Pa./Lourdes Regional) have
been selected for the award.
Price qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship after placing 11th at Saturday’s NCAA Mideast Region championship meet. He paced the Crusaders to an eighth-place finish with a personal-best time of 25:29.2 in the 8k. Price is the first male SU runner to qualify for the championship meet since Ian Quinlan '13 in 2011.
Over the weekend, Komara helped the women’s basketball team to a 1-1 record at the Frostburg State Jim Crawley Tournament and earned All-Tournament honors for her performances. Over two games, the sophomore averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest with a 52.9 field goal percentage.
In Saturday’s narrow, 59-58 loss to Gettysburg, Komara finished with 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting, eight rebounds, six assists, one steal and only one turnover. She added nine points, three rebounds and three assists in Sunday’s 55-49 win over Westminster (Pa.) in the tournament’s consolation game.
On Saturday, Nov. 22, Price will compete at the championship meet, hosted by Wilmington College in Mason, Ohio. That same weekend, Komara and the women’s basketball team host the Pepsi Tip-off Tournament with a game against Rosemont on Nov. 22 and another contest on Sunday, Nov. 23.
