Price, West Sweep Landmark Cross Country Honors

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna senior Alex Price (Skytop, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and junior Ashley West (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) were named the Landmark Conference Male and Female Cross Country Athletes of the Week, announced Monday afternoon. Both teams competed at the Sept. 27 Lock Haven Invitational.

Price finished fourth and was the top DIII runner with a career-best time of 25:37.7 on the 8k course, surpassing his previous personal best of 25:51. He was one of two top-10 finishers for the Crusaders as John Crowe (Boalsburg, Pa./State College Area) placed seventh with a time of 25:45.3.

As team, SU took home second overall and was the top Division III squad at the meet. Susquehanna had 58 points and Lock Haven won the team title with 43 points.

Meanwhile, West took home a fifth-place overall finish at the meet with a time of 22:25.2 on the 6k course where she was the second Division III runner to cross the finish. Her time was just seven seconds off matching her personal best.

The Crusader women earned a third-place team finish behind Division II programs West Virginia Wesleyan and West Chester.

Both teams return to action on Oct. 4 at the prestigious Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University.
